Hevel completes first heterojunction-based PV power plants in Russia
- Sep 21, 2017 -
Hevel Group, a Russia-based integrated PV manufacturer, said it had completed construction of a 20MW and a 5MW solar project in the Altai Republic, Russia which become the first to deploy heterojunction (HJ) modules in the country.
Hevel recently completed the transition from a-Si thin-film module production to HJ technology, providing high-efficiency modules, which provides an initial nameplate capacity of 160MW, double its previous capacity.
The 20MW Maima solar power park is part of Hevel’s 90MW project pipeline in the Altai Republic. The 5MW Onguday solar power plant was also commissioned at the same time.
Alexander Berdnikov, the Governor of Altai Republic said, “Today the total installed capacity of all solar parks put in operation in Altai Republic is 40МW, and in winter, in period of peak loads the region consumes 120МW. So about one third of our needs is secured by solar generation and we go on with our plans to increase capacity.”
“This year we have upgraded the production line, and also put the first solar power plant with HJT modules in operation,” added Igor Shakhrai, CEO of Hevel Group. “And that's just the beginning. Next year we are expanding HJT solar modules production to 220МW, and by the end of this year we start projects abroad.”
